Our History

In 1965 Verdun Walsh Real Estate was founded by Verdun and Val Walsh in Gladesville.  With the first strata title units constructed in 1961, we remain one of Sydney’s first strata agencies.

Back then the business provided a range of Real Estate services and Verdun and Val quickly developed a strong reputation and became widely sought after. When the Strata Schemes (Freehold Development) Act 1973 was legislated, Val, with a strong teaching background, quickly became the go to person for Strata Management issues and also authored a newspaper column answering questions for owners in the new industry that was in its infancy.

In 1985 Verdun and Val retired and soon after their daughter Deanne Hinton recommenced operations along with Amanda White focusing solely on Strata Management. The company’s trading name changed to Verdun Walsh Strata. Deanne and Amanda developed a strong reputation for their extensive knowledge of strata and an ethical, balanced approach to their clients. The number of plans they managed was capped to retain a high level of service so Deanne and Amanda were forced to keep a waiting list for plans keen for Verdun Walsh to manage their building. Such was the appeal, plans often waited some years to gain an opportunity to switch over.

Moving forward to today…..

In 2018, Trent Logue joined Verdun Walsh and ultimately purchased the company from Deanne and Amanda following their decision to scale down and retire from work life.  In light of Deanne and Amanda’s pride in the business they had built, finding the right person to take over Verdun Walsh Strata was a very important and their search was long and very selective.

Trent started his property career as a Residential Property Manager in Canberra in 1994.  Real Estate was in his blood with his father own and operating a residential agency for some 15 years, where Trent initially got his start.  Several years later, Trent wanted to chance his skills in commercial property and eventually joined Knight Frank in Canberra as a Commercial Property Manager.  For the next 20 years, he worked in the corporate commercial property industry holding senior positions in some well known companies such as Mirvac, Colliers International, Multiplex and the Cromwell Property Group.

In 2015 Trent decided it was time for a change but still had a strong desire to work in property knowing he had developed some strong skills.  He looked into strata and was amazed at how fast the industry was growing and evolving.  But sadly he also saw what he believed were extreme inefficiencies in the way strata was being managed. But conversely, he also saw an opportunity to step in and apply some disciplines learnt in his corporate commercial roles. As such the next chapter of his career commenced.

Realising that just because something has always been done a certain way does not mean it needs to be done that way, Verdun Walsh is looking for new and innovative ways of improving strata services. It is mainly about identifying tasks that are done frequently and working out ways to make them more efficient. And where less frequent, but more substantial issues arise (ie project management of significant building works) , how we can be adequately resourced to solve these problems as quickly as we can. This is an endless pursuit of constant improvement, but something that we take immense pleasure in progressing.
